Useful information

Practical information for people living in or visiting Natland, all in one place. Details change, so if you spot anything out of date please let us know.

In an emergency

  • Call 999 if someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
  • If someone has collapsed and is not breathing normally, call 999 and start CPR. The call handler will talk you through it.
  • The 999 call handler can direct you to the nearest registered defibrillator and give you any code needed to open its cabinet. A defibrillator gives spoken instructions and will only deliver a shock if one is needed.
  • For urgent medical help that isn't life-threatening, call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk.

Defibrillators (AEDs)

These defibrillators in the village are registered on the national defibrillator network:

  • Natland Village Hall (LA9 7QQ), beside the entrance, just north of the village green. Available 24 hours a day.
  • Larkrigg Riding School, Larkrigg (LA9 7QS). Available 24 hours a day.
  • St Mark's CE School, Oxenholme Lane (LA9 7QH). School hours only: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Not available at weekends.

In September 2026 the parish council also reported a new defibrillator at The Beeches. We'll add its location here once it is confirmed.

There are several more in Oxenholme close by, including at Castlestead View, the telephone box on Helmside Road, the Station Inn (all 24 hours) and Oxenholme station. To see every registered defibrillator on a map, search BHF DefibFinder for "Natland".

Defibrillator details checked against BHF DefibFinder and parish council records, October 2026. In an emergency, always call 999 first.

  • The nearest full A&E is at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Ashton Road, Lancaster LA1 4RP, open 24 hours.
